Khao Sok is a rainforest wonderland in southern Thailand, famous for its 160-million-year-old jungle and the stunning Cheow Lan Lake with towering limestone karsts. The climate is tropical, so visit during the dry winter months (December to April) for hiking trails and spotting wild elephants, or come in the rainy summer (May to November) for cheaper stays and kayaking across the emerald lake at dawn. If you're near the village, you can raft on the Sok River, while lakeside bungalows give you direct access to the lake's floating bungalows and jungle trekking.
