Norrland is Sweden's vast northern region, famous for its Arctic wilderness and the Northern Lights. The climate features long, snowy winters with temperatures often below -4°F (-20°C) and short, mild summers around 60°F (15°C). In winter, you can go dog sledding or snowmobiling through the forests, or chase the aurora borealis around Abisko National Park, while summer brings the midnight sun for hiking the Kungsleden trail or canoeing on Lake Storsjön. For budget travel, visit in late spring or early fall for lower prices and fewer crowds, though the best Northern Lights viewing is from September to March.
