Shandong is a coastal province in eastern China, famous for Mount Tai, one of the Five Great Mountains, and the birthplace of Confucius in Qufu. The climate brings hot, humid summers (around 86°F/30°C) perfect for hiking up the 7,000 stone steps of Mount Tai to catch the sunrise, and cold winters (around 32°F/0°C) when you can explore the frozen waterfalls and ancient temples with fewer crowds.
